We’ve had so many snow days this winter; they’ve been an at-least weekly event since school started back up after the holiday break. Here’s what we’ve been up to:
Reading bedtime stories to kittens. Building snow people. Collecting icicles in the bathtub. Dreaming about spring. Baking cookies. Eating cookies. Watching old movies. Cleaning the house. Painting. Making play-dough. Building a homemade bus out of dining room chairs.
The whole adventure has kind of made me miss the days when we were all home together all the time. Not that I love being cooped up with restless kids on endless snow days, but I remember when our time was spent all together, in a pretty gentle routine of activities we made up and executed as a family.
School is great, and has totally allowed me to work in a way I couldn’t with the kids at home. But it’s a trade-off, and sometimes I taste the bitter with the sweet.
