My secret New Year’s resolution (not a secret anymore), is to post a book or product review here every Friday. I have a huge backlog of books that have been sent to me for review. I’m working through the good ones and ignoring the terrible ones and aiming to write a decent review of anything that’s at least interesting. I doubt I’ll bother to post bad reviews unless something makes me not just dislike it but really angry.
I read a few books this week, but the one I’m most loving on is Alice’s Tea Cup. This sweet little cookbook contains recipes for everything from cookies to main dishes. So far I’ve made these delicious rice crispie cookie things called Rooibos Africana Ranger Cookies, and some amazing waffles. Both recipes were pretty easy to follow, and readily adaptable from the fancy ingredients they called for to real things I had in my kitchen. Better yet, they were each some of the most delicious things of their ilk I’ve ever made.
Part of the secret is in the tea: many of the recipes use different kinds of tea as a spice to season the baked goodies. Yum!
It’s also just plain good cooking. And then there’s the glittter.
Alice’s Tea Cup is a real restaurant in NYC. A restaurant that serves glitter with every meal. These are people who understand the magic of the tea party. I may have to visit them next time I’m in the city. In the meantime, I’ll be sprinkling glitter over my own tiny tea partiers before serving up scrumptious tea-flavored waffles.
