Cheer Me Up!

IMG_1866The weather is getting to me more than usual this year; I’m grumpy and tired a lot of the time.

On top of that, my life has been shifting really fast. It’s all good stuff – I’m suddenly gainfully employed as a writer and getting a fair amount of attention for my blog, my health is improving, my best friend has a new baby, etc. – but it’s generating a kind of emotional whiplash because my day to day life is so different from how it was a few months ago.

Speaking of gainful employment, so far this week I have written about teen suicide, unplanned home birth and homeless moms. Next up: extreme frugal holiday giving and dangerous birthing trends.

I could use a ray of sunshine. Cheer me up by leaving the cutest, funniest, happiest parenting stories you’ve seen this week in the comments?

PS – the picture of Serena is my cheerful gift to you; she’s a walking, talking ray of light.

Here's my ray of joy, shared with you; My son is a big snuggler. He's always asking for hugs, giving hugs and now finally wants to give cheek kisses. <3 It never stops thrilling me.
  • This morning, Jackjack woke up cranky with a bad attitude. After correcting a few outbursts, I whip out every Mom's favorite line: "I oughta give you a spanking!" To which he replied, "You better not, MATEY!" I was laughing so hard I couldn't lift a finger.
  • hilarious! I did an article last week for Strollerderby about the sayings we pick up from our moms, but I think I missed that one. :)

At bedtime we intersperse books with getting on the pajamas and brushing teeth. Mom shows up with the toothbrush half way through a book. Ben puts his hand on the page and says "Pause Dada!"

My teenaged daughter, said to me the other day,"for an old lady, who doesn't know how to dress, you kinda look okay". Big complement in my book.
  • Yesterday as I was walking through the yard, I noticed that someone has been clothes-pinning the sycamore balls back onto the tree.
