I’m not posting my gratitude here every day; I’m using my Twitter feed for that. But I want to post them occasionally, and here is one.
Today I’m grateful for all the play in my life. I spent the day playing at the edge of a stream with my kids, on a playground with Serena, in the garden with Rio and a friend, and finally around a living room late in the evening with a group of adults. I played princess and sandbox and farmer and Dungeons and Dragons. But only at the very end of a long, heavy day did I sit down to do a few minutes of work.
I’ve posted before about how frustrating all this relentless and wanton child’s play can be, but it’s also wonderful. I’m so grateful that this is the life I’ve built, and not one where I sit in an office where uncomfortable shoes all day. I am further grateful that the universe has conspired to give this life to my little girls: one of peace, safety and magic, where the main question is “What are we going to play today?”
