Rio weans her baby doll

This morning, as I’m getting dressed, Rio walks into the bedroom holding her baby doll and looking very serious.

“Baby wants to nurse,” she says.

“Are you going to nurse her then?” Rio often nurses her baby, finding a quiet place to sit and pulling her shirt up to press the doll to her chest.

“No, I can’t,” she said, making her sad/sick face. “My body’s not having any booby milk in my breasts because it all went up to the sun. It went out, from your breasts and from my breasts. It went out together. All the booby milk went up to the sun!”

By the time she got to the end of this speech, she was very enthusiastic, jumping happily to punctuate her mention of the sun. When I came downstairs, I saw a bottle of milk on the counter. She’s never drunk from a bottle in her life, but she found one somewhere and persuaded M to fill it with milk for her for breakfast. Curioser and curioser.
