It’s 2:47 AM. Do you know where your children are?

December 27, 2004

Mine is sitting on the floor beside me. She’s just pulled the French-English dictionary off the bookcase and is busy tearing the front pages out and trying to eat them, having failed in her first approach, which was to swallow it whole. I’m not sure this is what is meant by learning languages via osmosis, [...]

separation anxiety

December 3, 2004

I’m registered for a workshop this weekend that’s really an adult kind of space. The teacher has reluctantly agreed to try having Rio there, with the caveat that I may simply have to leave. I’ve never been apart from her, and I feel like I’ve made a commitment to her to keep her with me [...]

November 24, 2004

Thank you. (2) No, really, she’s been practicing for weeks, and she keeps rolling backward and onto her head, but yesterday she [...]

want vs. need

November 11, 2004

This morning Rio woke up and started happily crawling toward the sleeping cats who were napping in bed with us. I picked her up gently, and moved her several feet away, facing the opposite direction. She immediately began to howl. Thinking she was hurt, I picked her up and cuddled her. As soon as the [...]

no really. three hours.

November 10, 2004

At midnight, in the midst of an IM conversation and a last ditch effort to finish some work for the porn folks, I was called away by the babe, who wanted my attention for a nursing project. I dozed off in the midst of this project and woke up three hours later to find her [...]

baby update

November 9, 2004

Rio has started putting a toy in her mouth and biting onto it, then crawling around with it dangling like a kitten. This is as cute as it sounds.
